Contact Lenses

Each of our optometrists fit patients with contact lenses every day.  Our goal is to provide our patients with a full range of the most up to date contact lenses available.  We offer a wide variety in types of lenses to best suit our patients specific needs.

We realize that contact lenses can be easily purchased anywhere, but we take special pride in providing a thorough examination, including a contact lens fitting to determine which of the many lens types will suit both the patient's visual and lifestyle needs.  Once the prescription and lens have been determined, first-time wearers will be instructed on insertion and care of their lenses.  A follow-up visit will be arranged in order to insure the lens is fitting properly and that the visual goal has been met.

Is Eyecare Associates the best place to get my contact lenses?
Only by purchasing your contact lenses through your doctor can you be certain that you are getting what the doctor ordered.  We consistently work with contact lens manufacturers to get you the best possible product and price.

What type of vision problems can contact lenses correct?
Contact lenses can correct almost any vision condition.  These conditions include nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism, and presbyopia (bifocals).  Contact lenses can often be used in situations where the cornea has been damaged by injury or disease to provide vision better than that with glasses.

Can I wear contact if I have dry eyes?
In many situations the answer is yes.  There are lens materials designed specifically for dry eyes.  The doctor and contact specialist will be able to help you with this problem.

Can I switch between contacts and glasses?
Yes, by all means.  Patients can chose to wear contacts only for special events or recreational activities.  Lenses have become very convenient and affordable, making them more attractive than ever before.

When can my child consider contacts?
The biggest factor is the responsibility of the child.  Contact lenses are medical devices and if used incorrectly can cause problems.  We encourage parent to have discussed this issue with their child prior to considering contact lenses.

Can contact lenses damage my eyes?
Contact lenses are medical devices and if used incorrectly can cause redness, pain, and in severe cases, even vision loss.  It is very important to feel confident in your eyecare provider's ability to prescribe you the best possible contact for healthy vision.

What solution is best for me?
Your doctor will recommend a particular contact lens care procedure and solution specifically designed for your eyes.  It is best not to switch solutions without consulting your contact specialist.  Certain products could cause problems if used incorrectly.
