Wheeler, M.D. currently practices comprehensive pediatric
ophthalmology at Casey Eye Institute in Portland. Dr
Wheeler has a special interest in research involving retinal
disease in premature infants and in pediatric cataracts.
He contributed four years to the study of intraocular lens
implants in children with cataracts at King Khaled Eye Specialist Hospital in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Dr. Wheeler was originally from New England and gradually worked
his way west during his college years. He graduated from the
University of California School of Medicine at San Diego and was
awarded William Newman Clinical Intern of the Year in 1988-1989
Dr. Wheeler completed his ophthalmology
training in Dallas at the University of Texas Southwestern and
went on to a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and treatment of adult eye misalignment. He has
also published many articles in scientific journals regarding
the management of eye disorders.
